Stage West is a chain of dinner theatres located in Edmonton, Calgary and other Canadian cities. I worked the Edmonton location briefly in 1983 as a stage manager. The show was called "Mary, Mary" starring two actors from WKRP in Cincinatti. One was a really nice, easy-going guy, the other was going through a breakup with his girlfriend (also in the show) which made for tense times backstage. It was a horrible experience for a number of reasons and I got out of theatre soon after. I remember some graffiti scrawled on a wall of one of the star dressing rooms: "Best place I've worked on the way down."
Lou's Quiche Serves 4.
Sift together flour and salt. Cut in shortening until particles are size of small peas. Sprinkle cold water over mixture tossing lightly with a fork until dough is moist enough to hold together. Form into a ball. Roll out on a floured pastry cloth board to a circle 1 1/2 inches larger than inverted 8" pan. Fit pastry loosely into pan. Fold edge to form a rim.
Sprinkle bottom of crust with sausage or bacon. Combine cheese, eggs, cream, onion and salt. Mix well and pour into pie shell. Bake in a very hot oven (450 degrees F) 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 300 degrees F and continue baking about 25 minutes or until set. Cool slightly before serving.
